Corporate Social Responsibility
The implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) principles and practices is also reflected in our corporate social responsibility activities. We have developed social programs and activities aimed at improving the surrounding community's welfare. These programs include :
Partnership and Community Development Program
Partnership and Community Development Program is aimed at empowering and developing the economic potential and social condition of the people and surrounding community.
Total ammount of fund allocated for the program for the year 2005 is Rp. 5.500.123.496 (includes operational costs) and Rp. 7.893.580.675 for commnunity development. The allocated fund has been used for : education and training (62%), religious infrastructures (22%), public utilities and infrastructure (16%)
Other Social Programs
Besides the above program we also have developed other social program in forms of free health service for employees and the community living by the company's hospital, company's policlinic and referred hospital for employees that need special treatment, as well as to build the mosques.
Environmental Policy
Besides the corporate social responsibility program mentioned above, as a State Owned Enterprise (BUMN) in agricultural business with commodity products such as CPO, rubber, downstream industries and medical supporting products, we implement the environmental oriented policy that environmental protection is part of our activity. This environmental policy includes the effective and efficient use of natural resources, the prevention of natural contamination, optimum factory waste and hospital clinical waste drilling, the optimum utilization of factory and plantation waste, the estetics maintenance, the compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and environmental requirements. Our environmental policy is supported with the implementation of Environmental Management System ISO 14001.
The policy covers all aspects relate to solid waste control, B3 waste control, safety fertilizers and chemical plantation material, the utilization and control of petroleum (BBM) and oil, the utilization of chemical material for manufacturing, the management and control of waste water, the controlling of products/materials, and clinical waste control.
We also insist that our vendors have to provide products and materials that are nature friendly and that the procurement is conducted according to the procedures and instructions. An audit on the environmental management system (SML) for the year 2004 has also been assigned and responsed.
Work Health and Safety
Work health and safety procedures have been implemented appropriately and reports have always been made whenever accidents take place. Safety signals and regulations have been developed for every kind of job potential for dangers, diseases and accidents. The workers are also equipped with APD accordingly. Review and examination on the work health and safety procedures and equipments is implemented on regular basis.
